The ABC guide to whistleblowing – WhistleB launches new handbook

July 7, 2020

As new laws mean organisations across the EU must implement a whistleblowing system for the first time, Sweden-based WhistleB shares years of practical whistleblowing insight in a new handbook. Simple, secure, compliant and digital are the key tenets of the book.

The WhistleB handbook, the ABC guide for establishing a whistleblowing solution that increases customer and employee satisfaction is targeted at company boards and management teams. It aims to help board members who have the ultimate responsibility for organisational sustainability and risk. For company management teams and business owners it is a guide for implementing and running an organisational whistleblowing solution through functions such as Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit and HR.

“When the new EU whistleblower protection law was passed last October, we received a massive increase in enquiries. Many companies had never considered having a whistleblowing system in place and they simply wanted to know “how do we even get started?” So, we decided to package up all our years of practical experience in a handbook to help all these companies,” says Gunilla Hadders, co-author and Senior Adviser at WhistleB, Whistleblowing Centre.

“A whistleblowing system can contain very sensitive information. A whistleblower can feel vulnerable, fearful of retaliation effecting their jobs or even the well-being of their family. Business leaders may be feeling uncomfortable about setting up a system that could place potentially explosive information in their hands, and give them confidentiality issues and data privacy rules to tackle. Our book will help them protect data, protect individuals, protect the company, and of course protect themselves,” says Karin Henriksson, co-author and Senior Adviser at WhistleB, Whistleblowing Centre.
